XC Mountain Biking

 

The Stroud Cross Country Mountain Bike Series for 2013 will consist of a minimum of two races.  The format will follow the British Cycling XCO MTB format, that is an offroad circuit of approximately 5km with cut off times according to age category.

 

The event is suitable for all abilities and experience levels, so please come along and have a go.  If you would like further information please contact us.  The 12-16yos will race together and 17yo an older including adults will race together.

 

Note that you DO NOT have to have British Cycling Membership to enter these events, you will be given the option to join when you enter online, however if you do not join you will be covered by a day license that is included in the cost.

 

The first race will be held at Woodchester Park with the kind permission of the National Trust on Saturday14th August 2013.  Race details and online entry details are posted below.

 

Race 2 will be at Ebworth Park on 28 Sep 2013.

will be posted on the website once confirmed.  The course will be run on forest trails and will include some single track downhill sections.

 

Race Format:

This is a Cross Country Mountain Bike Race, run to British Cycling Mountain Biking Specific Regulations. The race will conform to the Cross Country Olympic (XCO) and will consist of a single lap in the Park measuring 5.76km (3.58miles).

 

The event will open on Saturday morning at 1000hrs with a 1 hour practise session for all riders in the morning.

 

The Juvenille/Youth (12-16yos) event will start at 1115hrs

The Junior (17-18yos) and Senior (19yo +) event will start at 1200hrs

 

The Juvenilles & Youth will race for a minimum of 30mins maximum 1 hr

The Seniors will race for a minimum of 1hr 30mins.

 

Age Group Definitions: 

Age categories for men and women are:

 

Juvenile From 1st January year of 13th birthday to 31st December year of 14th birthday

Youth From 1st January year of 15th birthday to 31st December year of 16th birthday  

Junior From 1st January year of 17th birthday to 31st December year of 18th birthday  

U23 From 1st January year of 19th birthday to 31st December year of 22nd birthday  

Senior From 1st January year of 19th birthday

Course Map:

see below, the course is 4.4km for one lap run in a clockwise direction, Juvenille & Youth will race one lap, Junior & Seniors will race for 90mins and then one lap.  An elevation map is included.  The course is run on forest tracks, mostly flat and fast there are 2 down hill single track sections.  Practise will be open on the course from 08-0900hrs.  A warm up area is provided near the Start area.

Spectators

As the course has been moved it is 3km to the start, you can bring a bike to ride to the start and there are good areas to view the race, we hope to have the race next year  in the original track which will be easier to access for spectators,
